NEW MBS ITEMS FOR TRANSITIONAL HOURS FOR URGENT AFTER HOURS ATTENDANCES
Two new items for transitional hours were added to the MBS on 1 November 2008. The items cover urgent out of surgery attendances requested in the two-hour period before the after hours period begins. The Item numbers are 603 for general practitioners (rebate $87.50) and 696 for other medical practitioners. Item 603 is available for not more than one patient on one occasion and the patient’s medical condition must require urgent treatment.
