ABHI (Australian Better Health Initiative)

ABHI Program

Overview:

The Australian Better Health Initiative (ABHI) program is a 4 year national program funded by both State and Federal Governments to strengthen the health systems focus on promoting good health and reducing the burden on chronic disease. Manly Warringah Division adopted the program in 2008.

Activities:

Data Collection:

We are installing the Canning Data Analysis Tool and Pen Clinical Audit Tool (CAT) at practices to enable more proactive, systematic care of chronic disease patients through the establishment & ongoing management of patient registers.

Secure Messaging:

This activity is aimed at reducing the amount of paperwork that flows between health care providers by replacing paper documents with the secure electronic transmission of patient information between healthcare parties. We are currently working with a small number of GPs to establish a working party to recruit specialists, hospitals and allied health providers to use ARGUSCONNECT Secure Messaging System.
